Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, through POLO-OWWA Vancouver, Celebrates Labor Month with Labor Day Care Kits and a “Pinoy Ako, Ito ang Kwento Ko” Interview Series

03 May 2021- To mark Philippine Labor Day this year, the Philippine Consulate General, through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Office in Vancouver, distributed 30 Labor Day Care Kits to Overseas Filipino Workers transacting at the Consulate and POLO offices today.  Each kit contained one box of masks and one bottle of Vitamin C.

Shown below are photos of some Filipino workers receiving their Care Kits from Welfare Officer Lilia de Guzman outside the Consulate office (left photo) and at the POLO office (right photo), and from OWWA Administrative Assistant Lorraine Raymundo (center photo).

Additionally, an interview series called, “Pinoy Ako, Ito ang Kwento Ko”, featuring four Filipino migrant workers from British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan and their success stories will be shown in POLO Vancouver’s official Facebook account every Saturday, as part of the month-long Labor Day celebration.

In its first installment, a cancer-survivor from Edmonton, Alberta recalls her inspiring journey from being a caregiver to becoming a degree holder at the prestigious University of British Columbia and, now, a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant.   Her story is a testament of the Filipinos’ resilience and hard work. Mabuhay ang Manggagawang Pilipino!

The “Pinoy Ako, Ito ang Kwento Ko,” interview series will run for the whole month of May and will also be featured in the Consulate’s official website and Facebook account.
