PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN VANCOUVER HOLDS WEBINAR WITH FILNET ON CANADA’S NEW IMMIGRATION PATHWAY TO PERMANENT RESIDENCY

11 May 2021 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, in partnership with the FilNet, as part of its quarterly “We are Here for You” webinar series, conducted on 24 April and 01 May 2021 a webinar on Canada’s new and accelerated pathway to permanent residency, called the “Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway”.  The webinar aimed to provide a better understanding of this new public policy and help prospective Filipino applicants prepare for the program, which would grant permanent residency to applicants under the following three streams:  1) temporary workers in health care – 20,000; 2) temporary workers in other selected essential occupations – 30,000; and 3) international students who graduated from a Canadian institution – 40,000.

Ms. Darla Tomeldan, a regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, and Ms. Julie Diesta, a Migrant Worker Facilitator at the South Vancouver Neighborhood House, both FilNet members, were the resource speakers for the webinar.  The eligibility requirements for each of the streams mentioned above were explained in detail, as well as the likely documents that applicants would be required to submit.

In her remarks, Consul General Maria Andrelita Austria expressed the Consulate’s support to Filipinos who wished to avail themselves of the program and thanked the FilNet for partnering with the Consulate in this endeavor.  END
