VICTORIA, BC 22 May 2025 – Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin, accompanied by Consul Analyn D. Ratonel and MWO-Vancouver Labor Attaché Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama, paid a courtesy call on Her Honour, the Honourable Wendy Cocchia, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia at the Government House in Victoria, British Columbia on 21 May 2025.
During the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Cocchia expressed her deepest condolences to the victims of the recent Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy, assuring the Consul General that the Filipino community is not alone in their grief.
Consul General Jamoralin expressed the community’s appreciation for the support extended by the Canadian government at all levels—federal, provincial, municipal, and the Crown—emphasizing that such solidarity brings comfort and strength to the grieving community.
Discussions also touched on the Filipino community’s contributions to Canadian society, as well as opportunities for deeper cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and British Columbia. END
