PH Delegation to the Technical Learning Exchange for Governance for Climate and Disaster Resilience (GOV-CDR) project visits PCG Vancouver
16 JUNE 2026, VANCOUVER, BC. Last 10 June 2026, the Philippine Delegation to the Technical Learning Exchange (TLE) for Governance for Climate and Disaster Resilience (GOV-CDR) project paid a courtesy call on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin. The 22-person delegation was composed of governors, district representatives, and other provincial officials from Kalinga, Aklan, Bukidnon, Davao de Oro, Samar, as well as representatives from Global Affairs Canada and project partners Alinea International and Climate Risk Institute. The delegation is scheduled to visit various cities in BC from 6-14 June 2026 to learn best practices in resiliency planning to mitigate the effects of climate change in their respective provinces.
The Consul General had an opportunity to meet the governors and district representatives to discuss various areas of possible collaboration such as exploring the possibility of forging linkages between BC and PH provinces, exploring how BC and Philippine secondary educational institutions may engage in exchange programs, and boosting local tourism in the Philippines through the Philippine Posts in Canada’s flagship tourism program Winter Escapade.

The meeting was followed by a lunch reception with the entire delegation, as well as representatives from Filipino community organizations such as United Filipino Canadian Associations in BC (UFCABC) and Aklanon Sto. Niño Association of BC. In her remarks, Consul General Jamoralin expressed her appreciation for the delegation for making the time to visit the Consulate. She also remarked that their engagement with the Gov-CDR project stands to benefit our kababayan in the various provinces in the Philippines as they bring back best practices on climate and disaster resilience planning once they conclude their Technical Learning Exchange with the various cities and institutions in British Columbia.
As an archipelagic and maritime nation, the Philippines is one of the countries most exposed to the risks and vulnerabilities brought about by climate change. As such, it mobilizes policymakers at the national, provincial, and municipal levels to engage partners and other stakeholders in its efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver supports this whole-of-nation approach by finding ways to link PH officials at all levels with their counterparts in BC, YT, and NWT to share best practices and find opportunities for collaboration.
