15 May 2025 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin met with Professor Paul Fox of the University of Victoria (UVic) and the founder of UVic’s Canadian Southeast Asian Studies Initiative on 15 May 2025, to explore cultural and educational collaboration.
(UVic) is a distinguished research-intensive institution in Canada, recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement. Situated along British Columbia’s coastline, UVic fosters dynamic learning and groundbreaking research across a broad range of disciplines.
Supported by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, UVic currently offers Filipino language courses attended primarily by heritage learners. Professor Fox aims to expand this program through a hybrid-format structure and is seeking additional support to sustain and enhance this initiative.
The Consulate continues to strengthen partnerships that promote Filipino language and culture in Canada through facilitating connections between Filipino community leaders and university officials.END
