VANCOUVER 03 September 2026 - Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin called on Speaker Yvonne Clarke on 28 August 2026 at the Yukon Legislative Assembly. The Consul General and the Speaker highlighted their shared interest in strengthening cooperation between the Philippines and Yukon, noting opportunities to enhance mobility, education, and legislative engagement. They discussed advancing a One‑Canada approach to the recognition of foreign credentials through a Memorandum of Understanding, drawing on existing frameworks that support mutual recognition of academic standards in coordination with Philippine regulatory and education agencies.

Both sides also welcomed prospects for school and university exchanges that would promote cultural immersion and deepen appreciation of each other’s heritage. They further explored the potential of establishing an Inter‑Parliamentary Friendship Group between the Philippines and Yukon to encourage legislative dialogue and strengthen cultural and academic ties across both legislative bodies. Speaker Clarke is the first Filipino-Canadian elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Her family hails from Ormoc, Leyte and Dumaguete City.END
