VANCOUVER 03 September 2026 - Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin called on Yukon Premier Currie Dixon on 28 August 2026 at the Office of the Premier in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The Consul General and the Premier underscored their shared commitment to supporting the Filipino community in Yukon, noting ongoing efforts to protect Filipino workers under the Yukon Nominee Program and to streamline credential recognition. The Premier also welcomed the Consulate’s production of a directory of Filipino organizations in British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories and appreciated the Consulate’s role in providing clear and accurate information to the public.
They discussed areas of mutual economic interest, including opportunities linked to the Canada–Philippines Free Trade Agreement ongoing negotiations, Yukon’s mining sector, and the Philippines’ participation in regional critical mineral supply chain under the Pax Silica initiative. The Consul General also highlighted potential partnerships with Philippine provinces and cities, including prospects for educational exchanges and complementary sectors such as Bukidnon’s agricultural exports and Yukon’s tourism and mining industries.
The Premier expressed openness to exploring a sister‑province partnership. The Consul General encouraged Yukon’s recognition of Philippine Heritage Month every June and suggested that the territory consider establishing a trade presence in the Philippines to further strengthen economic cooperation.END
