CONSUL GENERAL GINA JAMORALIN JOINS 12TH PHILIPPINE FLAG RAISING CEREMONY IN RICHMOND
29 June 2026, Vancouver B.C. – Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin attended the 12th Philippine Flag Raising Ceremony held on 13 June 2026 at the Richmond City Hall grounds as part of the Filipino community's celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Filipino Heritage Month.
The parade was joined by the Consul General, Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie, Members of Richmond City Council, and British Columbia officials led by MLA Mable Elmore, Teresa Wat; Members of Canadian Parliament, Parm Bains and Chak Au and representatives from various Filipino community organizations and cultural groups, demonstrating the unity, diversity, and vibrant spirit of the Filipino Canadian community in Richmond and the Greater Vancouver area.

Following the parade, the Philippine flag was ceremonially raised by Consul General Gina Jamoralin and the Mayor Malcolm Brodie of Richmond, symbolizing the enduring friendship and strong people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Canada.
In her remarks, Consul General Jamoralin expressed her appreciation to the Richmond 55ers Wellness and Fitness Society, headed by Advisory Board Chairperson Marilou Yodogawa, for organizing and hosting the meaningful annual event.

The Consul General commended the organization for its dedication to promoting health, wellness, and community engagement. She noted that through their commitment to caring for one another, staying active, and fostering a supportive community, members of the society exemplify the Filipino value of bayanihan or communal unity and cooperation.

She likewise thanked the City of Richmond for providing a welcoming environment where Filipino Canadians can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. She thanked Mayor Brodie for consistently supporting the Filipino flag raising ceremony in Richmond by gracing the event for 12 years. The Consul General said that this year is her second time to raise the Philippine flag in Richmond since arriving in Vancouver in November 2024.
The program featured a rich showcase of Filipino culture and talent through cultural dances, folk songs, choral performances, a yoga exhibition, and musical presentations, highlighting the contributions of the Filipino Canadian community to the multicultural landscape of British Columbia. END.
