VPCG Welcome the Philippine National Bobsled Team

The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver hosted a meet and greet to welcome visiting members of the Philippine National Bobsled Team. Mr. Thelmo “Buddy” Cunanan, President of the Philippine National Bobsled, Luge and Skeleton Association, Inc. (PNBLSA), was joined by two members of the team, Mr. Jeffrey Dela Cruz and Jerby Deriada. The team are currently undergoing training in Whistler but will return to their home base in Calgary this November. The team, composed of four (4) won 3rd and 4th places at the Alberta Cup Provincial Championship held at the Canada Olympic Park in Calgary last March 2019. The Philippine bobsled team is first and only bobsled team in the Philippines and in the entire Southeast Asian region. Its ultimate goal is to compete and represent the Philippines in the 2022 Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing, China.
