Vancouver PCG’s First Online Town Hall Meeting Enhances Collaboration with Filipino Community Organizations

12 January 2026, Vancouver B.C. - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver PCG conducted on 12 January 2026 an online Town Hall meeting with the leaders of all Filipino community organizations from the three Canadian provinces under its jurisdiction, namely British Columbia, Yukon, and Northwest Territories.

Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed the leaders from thirty three (33)   organizations who participated in the online meeting, which discussed the Consulate’s collaboration with the Filipino community organizations in various areas of mutual cooperation and thanked them for their support and cooperation in various projects in the past year. First, she invited everyone to watch a video which looked back with pride at all the Consulate’s activities and projects in 2025. Then building on these achievements, she shared the list of the Consulate’s planned activities for this year 2026 including a common cultural calendar in June and July 2026 in celebration of Filipino Heritage Month. Finally, the Q&A session which followed facilitated the deep-dive elaboration of how the Consulate and the Filipino community organizations could broaden and deepen their cooperation further.

For this year, Consul General Jamoralin emphasized the Consulate’s involvement in both the flag-raising ceremonies and the cultural activities to be organized by various Filipino organizations in different cities during the Filipino Heritage Month in June. She reiterated the Consulate’s request for cooperation in (a) updating the first edition of Filcom directory published by the Philippine Consulate in June 2025,  (b) registering for overseas voting for the 2028 national elections in the PH, and (c) participating in the PH Consulate in Vancouver’s Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP) and; (d) call for nominations of CFO’s Presidential Awards; announcement of DMW’s upcoming programs – Bagong Bayani Awards and Likha Global Awards.

At the Q&A session, Filipino community organizations showed their enthusiasm in joining the activities lined up for 2026, asking for clarification on the details, suggesting ways to develop them, and offering their support.

In his closing remarks, Deputy Consul General Paul Vincent L. Uy expressed the PH Consulate’s confidence that with the active support and generous cooperation of all Filipino community organizations, this year’s activities would all be successful. He also reassured them that that the PH Consulate is always ready to promote and protect the welfare of the Filipino communities in western Canada END.
