Vancouver, 05 March 2025 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin together with Consul Analyn D. Ratonel had an introductory meeting with Executive Director Randall Martin of the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) at the Consulate on 29 January 2025.
During the meeting with, BCCIE Executive Director Martin shared the British Columbia's new immigration policies which require international students to apply for the right programs to qualify for a post-graduate work permit. He underscored the importance of ensuring that Filipino students are well-informed about these requirements before selecting their academic programs.
Likewise, Executive Director Randall conveyed that he is a member of the delegation that will visit and meet Philippine Higher Educational Institutions (PHEIs) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in March 2025, organized by the Trade Commissioner's Office of the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines.
Consul General Jamoralin suggested to Executive Director Randall to consider meeting with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and schools specializing in maritime education, as the Philippines has a strong presence in maritime training and education.
Both expressed commitment to strengthening partnerships between the Philippines and British Columbia in the field of education. END
