VANCOUVER 02 September 2025 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver held a flag ceremony on 02 September 2025 at the Consular lobby to mark the observance of Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo). Officers and staff of the Consulate, all dressed in blue, joined the event to show their solidarity and support for the month-long commemoration.

MANAMo, observed annually every September pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 316, underscores the Philippines’ identity as a maritime nation. This year’s theme, “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan, Panatag na Karagatan”, highlights the significance of national unity and maritime security in safeguarding the country’s future.

In her remarks, Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin stressed the continuing relevance of the 2016 Arbitral Award, underscoring its role in upholding the rule of law in the seas and in asserting the Philippines’ maritime rights. Joining the ceremony were consular applicants, who took the opportunity to listen to the remarks of Consul General Jamoralin.END
