Vancouver PCG Attends Pista sa Nayon : A Celebration of Filipino Festivals at ACSENDA School of Management in Vancouver

Vancouver, BC, 10 April 2025 - At the invitation of ACSENDA School of Management (ASM), Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin graced the Pista sa Nayon : A Celebration of Filipino Festivals as a special guest, which was held at the ASM Library on 09 April 2025.

Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin, in her speech, highlighted the significance of 09 April as the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) where she encouraged the young audience to commemorate the bravery of the Filipino soldiers who played a crucial role, fighting alongside American as well as Canadian troops during the World War II. Likewise, the Consul General informed the students of the forthcoming activities of the Consulate such as the Post Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) and the 2025 National and Local  Overseas Elections. She also encouraged the students to register through Vancouver’s Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP) and to monitor the Consulate’s social media accounts for more updates on the Consulate’s future activities.

The Pista sa Nayon : A Celebration of Filipino Festivals is a cultural tribute of the ASM to the rich heritage, traditions, and spirit of the Philippines, reflecting ACSENDA’s commitment to international thinking and individual focus. The festival featured the three major islands in the Philippines through stunning cultural dance numbers, namely: Panagbenga, Sinulog, Ati-Atihan, and Kadayawan, with students wearing costumes created by Filipino designers.

The celebration was concluded with authentic Filipino feast featuring popular dishes such as BBQ chicken, sisig, and lumpia.  The event was also joined by the other members of the Filipino community to celebrate the Filipino heritage. END
