VANCOUVER, BC 16 June 2025 – Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin, together with Consul Analyn D. Ratonel and Vice Consul Marco Harder, received Surrey City Mayor Brenda Locke during her visit to the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver to personally hand over the books of condolences from Surrey officials and residents for the victims of the Lapu-Lapu Block Party incident.
The Consul General expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by the City of Surrey and reaffirmed the deep ties between Surrey and its growing Filipino community—the third largest ethnic group in the city. According to Statistics Canada, there were 31,865 Filipinos residing in Surrey in 2021.
The visit also served as a platform for discussion on future collaborations. Mayor Locke shared updates on Surrey’s ongoing developments. Meanwhile, Consul General Jamoralin presented the Consulate’s initiatives, including outreach missions, business seminars, and a proposed Halal tourism promotion project.
The visit strengthened the shared commitment to community engagement, cultural understanding, and mutual cooperation. END
