Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Secretary of Migrant Workers Arrive in Vancouver; Set to Prepare for President Marcos Jr.’s Official Visit to Canada

VANCOUVER, CANADA – 01 July 2026 – Setting the stage for a milestone diplomatic engagement, Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro and Secretary of Migrant Workers Hans Leo J. Cacdac arrived at Vancouver International Airport today, 01 July 2026.

The high-level Cabinet officials were warmly received upon arrival by Philippine Ambassador to Canada H.E. Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga and Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin of the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, Labor Attaché Ma. Celeste Valderrama, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Welfare Officer Allan Ignacio and officers and staff from the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver.

The joint arrival of Secretaries Lazaro and Cacdac precedes the highly anticipated working visit of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to Vancouver, scheduled from 01 to 04 July, the first visit of a Philippine President to Canada in eleven (11) years. Their presence highlights the Philippine government's dual priorities: accelerating robust bilateral and economic partnerships with Canada, and strengthening essential support networks for the vibrant Filipino diaspora.
