Philippine Consulate General Supports Adivay Festival as Benguet Community Celebrates Culture and Heritage

20 August 2026, Vancouver, B.C. Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin graced the colorful Adivay Festival 2026 on 15 August 2026 in Burnaby as the different tribes and communities of Benguet gathered together for a meaningful one-day celebration of their culture, heritage, unity and shared identity.

In her remarks, Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin congratulated the officers of the Benguet Society of British Columbia (BSBC) for the successful Adivay Festival 2026 and the 10th Anniversary of BSBC.  Consul General Jamoralin briefed the audience on President Marcos’ visit in July and highlighted the significance of the Joint Declaration of Intent on Labor and Migration to the Filipino migrant workers.  She also shared important updates and initiatives relevant to the Filipino community namely, the invitation to attend the Post Arrival Orientation Seminar on 29 August 2026,  the promotion of Winter Escapade 2027, the ongoing registration of overseas voting for the upcoming National Elections in 2028.

The event was also attended by Mayor Mike Hurley of Burnaby, Member of the Parliament Jake Sawatzky and Burnaby Councillor Maita Santiago.  A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of cultural booths representing different regions and communities of Benguet. Each group took pride in decorating its booth to showcase what makes its community unique. END
