Vancouver, BC, 18 August 2026 — Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin met with Governor Melecio J. Go of the Provincial Government of Marinduque, on 14 August 2026 in Vancouver, BC, at the sidelines of his official visit in Canada.
During the meeting, Governor Go, Chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Committee of the MIMAROPA Regional Development Council, discussed the proposed MIMAROPA Diamond Route Inter-Island Sea Transport Network and expressed interest in exploring potential cooperation with British Columbia on maritime connectivity. The Consulate noted its efforts to facilitate linkages with relevant British Columbia counterparts to explore possible areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The Moriones Festival was identified as a potential cultural showcase in Vancouver, while Marinduque’s beaches, heritage, and eco-tourism attractions could be promoted as a winter escape destination for Canadian travelers.
The Consulate looks forward to supporting initiatives that strengthen trade, tourism, cultural, and people-to-people ties between Marinduque and British Columbia.
