12 AUGUST 2026, VANCOUVER B.C. – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver led by Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin officially launched SineWika sa Konsulado, a month-long Filipino film screening program in celebration of Buwan ng Wika on 4 August 2026.
The project was organized in partnership with the Filipino-Canadian Society for Interactive Arts and Events (INARTE) led by Mr. N. Ryan Ferrer. Throughout the month of August, Filipino films will be screened every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Philippine Consulate General at 10 AM and 2 PM.
In her opening remarks, Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin addressed the audience in Filipino, underscored the significance of preserving and promoting the Filipino language and emphasized the important role of parents in teaching Filipino language to their children, especially those growing up in Canada.
SineWika sa Konsulado also provides an opportunity for the community to appreciate Philippine cinema while reinforcing the value of the Filipino language through storytelling.
Among the featured films to be screened during August are Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir, Kauyagan, and Quezon's Game, showcasing stories that reflect Philippine history, culture, faith, and resilience. END.
