PH Consulate General in Vancouver Visits Smokehouse Sandwich Co. During the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada

On 4 April 2022, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, led by Consul General Maria Andrelita Austria, visited the Smokehouse Sandwich Co. located at 108- 5188 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC. during the 1st week of the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC).

Smokehouse Sandwich Co. is one of the 40 participating restaurants of the FRMC, which is taking place across Canada.  Smokehouse is offering pork sisig with fried egg, lettuce, salsa and aioli on toasted bun, plus fries with toyomansi [toyo soy sauce and calamansi lemon] aioli, and ube [purple yam] and queso macaroons.

Rico Verzosa, chef and owner of Smokehouse Sandwich Co., was born and raised in the Philippines. His restaurant also offers some Filipino-centric dishes like Tocino Burrito, Salpicao Burrito, and Sisig Sandwich. They also started a new line offering a variety of Paellas, Lechon de Leche, and Lechon Manok.

Canada’s first Filipino Restaurant Month, a joint project by the Philippine Posts in Canada and the Philippine Department of Tourism in San Francisco, is aimed at raising the profile of Filipino cuisine and Filipino restaurants in Canada.

Head your way to the nearest participating FRMC and indulge in good Pinoy food offerings!
