Surrey, B.C. 27 October 2025 – Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin attended the screening of “Canadian Adobo” organized by the Pinoy Pride Vancouver on 26 October 2025 at the Center Stage, Surrey, B.C.
The powerful and deeply moving documentary film “Canadian Adobo” was showcased to offer the audience an intimate look at the complex emotional realities faced by overseas Filipinos workers and their families as they rebuild their lives in Canada.The film captured the raw emotions, reflections and hopes of parents and children striving to reconnect after years of separation. The film delved into the emotional costs of immigration, including the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and environment for newly-arrived family members.
The film screening was followed by an engaging Q&A session with the filmmaker and overseas Filipinos workers, allowing the audience to gain deeper insight into the creative and emotional process behind the documentary. Adding to the evening’s celebration of identity and self-expression, powerful performances were delivered by local drag artists, Imelda Mae Santos and Bongganisa.
Consul General Jamoralin expressed her gratitude to the organizers for the kind invitation to the screening and commended the film’s powerful message on reconnection and family healing. She also took the opportunity to share few announcements of the Consulate’s upcoming projects namely the “Safe Spaces, Safe Communities” on 6 December 2025, in commemoration of the 18-day campaign to end violence against women. Pinoy Pride Vancouver will be one of the speakers during the event. Consul General Jamoralin also announced the registration of overseas voters to commence on 1 December 2027 until 30 September 2027.
