Vancouver, B.C. 8 December 2025 - The Filipino Community in Vancouver marked a meaningful occasion as Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin officiated the induction ceremony of the newly elected officers and town representatives of the Aklanon Sto. Niño Association on 20 November 2025 at the Renfrew Community Centre in Vancouver.
Consul General Jamoralin, an Aklanon herself, expressed her joy in reconnecting with her fellow provincemates in Canada. In her inspiring message, she highlighted the importance of preserving the Aklanon culture – language, dance, and the Ati-Atihan tradition, noting that this shared roots continue to strengthen and unite Aklanons abroad. During her remarks, Consul General Jamoralin called out each town in Aklan province, which elicited smiles, cheers and warm applause from the audience.
Mr. Jojo Quimpo, President of the Association, thanked the Consul General for her presence and the steadfast support for the Filipino Canadian community.
Consul General Jamoralin also announced the upcoming programs of the Consulate – Registration of overseas voting starting on December 1, 2025 and the Winter Escapade in February 2026. She also encouraged the audience to register with the Consulate’s VERMAP (Vancouver Emergency Response Mapping Registry) an important initiative to reach out to Filipinos during disasters or in times of emergency.
