16 APRIL 2026, VANCOUVER, BC. Last 13 April 2026, Mr. Jordg Lemita, President of the Okanagan Filipino-Canadian Society paid a courtesy call on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin at PCG Vancouver. Also in attendance were Deputy Consul General Paul Vincent L. Uy, Vice Consul Marco Harder, and Labor Attache Maria Celeste Valderrama.
In the meeting, Consul General Jamoralin discussed the role of the Filipino Community in ensuring the success consular outreach missions and urged Mr. Lemita to help disseminate important information, particularly documentary requirements, to clients who wish to avail of consular services during these missions. In addition, the Consul General also expressed the Consulate’s desire to drive overseas voting registration among Filipino temporary workers, permanent residents, and dual citizens so that they may be able to exercise their constitutional right to vote in the 2028 Philippine elections.
Mr. Lemita, Labor Attache Valderrama, and Consul General Jamoralin also discussed concerns of Filipino workers in the Okanagan region and explored ways how the Consulate may be able to support them.
According to the 2021 Canadian census, there are approximately 2,980 Filipinos residing in the Kelowna Metropolitan region. As part of its mandate to protect the interests and promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos in BC, YT, and NWT, the Philippine Consulate General regularly engages the Filipino communities in these provinces and territories to stay abreast of their concerns.
