Filipino-Canadian Community in British Columbia Celebrates PH Heritage Month with a Cultural Showcase

VANCOUVER, 20 June 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, led by Consul General Arlene T. Magno, joined the United Filipino Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC) at a Heritage Dinner in celebration of Filipino Heritage Month in Canada at the Executive Plaza Hotel in Coquitlam on 15 June 2024.

The gala opened with a fashion show featuring Filipiniana creations, made from various Philippine weaves, by Dana Liwag of Santa Emmanuel Haute Couture based in Batangas province.

In her remarks, Consul General Magno expressed the Consulate’s deep gratitude to the organizers and volunteers from the UFCABC for their dedication and hard work in bringing the community together to celebrate their shared heritage.  The event was attended by officials from BC who conveyed their warm greetings and appreciation for the Filipino community's vibrant cultural contributions.

During the event, Consul General Magno also inducted into office the new set of Officers and Board of Directors of the UFCABC for 2024-2026, led by its incoming president Christian Cunanan. The induction was followed by cultural performances that showcased the depth and diversity of Filipino artistic traditions.

The United Filipino Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC) was established in 2015 comprising over 40 registered British Columbian societies in the Canadian-Filipino community. END
