14 May 2025 - Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin paid a courtesy call on Hon. Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the Parliament of British Columbia, to discuss key matters affecting the Filipino community and explore avenues for further collaboration.
Speaker Chouhan conveyed his deep sorrow over the Lapu-Lapu Day tragedy and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Filipino community. Consul General Jamoralin expressed gratitude for the assistance extended by various levels of government and provided updates on a recent Community Meeting at Langara College, where city officials and Vancouver Police engaged with Filipino residents.
The Speaker shared that a condolence book had been opened at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria, a gesture warmly acknowledged by the Consul General. Discussions also touched on strengthening parliamentary ties, with Speaker Chouhan responding positively to an invitation to visit the Philippines with a delegation.
