Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin Joins the Philippine Delegation During the BCIEW 2025 in Whistler, BC

Vancouver BC, 26 June 2025–Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin joined the 4th Philippine Higher Education mission led by Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Marita Canapi in partnership with the Embassy of Canada in Manila, during the BC International Education Week (BCIEW) organized by the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) which was held in Whistler, BC from 22 to 25 June 2025.

A Philippine Session was featured during the BCIEW 2025 which showcased the Philippine-Canada partnerships and transnational higher education (TNHE) engagements and priorities. This session was anchored on the MOU signed in 2024 between CHED and the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills (PSFS) in British Columbia, that aligns with the priorities of the current Philippine administration on upskilling and reskilling talent, as well as enhancing the quality of higher education training and research to develop globally competitive graduates.

CHED together with the Embassy of Canada presented the Philippine Higher Education landscape and the Philippine Higher Education in the ASEAN Region; Philippine Higher Education Priorities, Opportunities for Partnerships, and the role of Philippine and foreign universities; TNHE incentives. The Philippine session also witnessed moderated panel discussions.

Participating PHEIs include Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology, Cavite State University, Cebu Technological University, Central Mindanao University, Isabela State University, Mountain Province State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Romblon State University, Technological University of the Philippines, and Panpacific University.

The BCIEW 2025 gathered a diverse mix of over 500 in-person delegates including post-secondary representatives from academic institutions in BC, Canada, and across Asia, the Pacific, and Europe; government and education leaders; education service providers and recruiters; non-profit organizations, and sector partners.  Attendees took part in keynotes, panel debates, focused workshops, the International Education Awards, and structured Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking, aimed at cultivating new partnerships.
