On 27 October 2026, Mr. Raymond Abog, GCash Canada Manager - Toronto, Mr. Jonathan Que, GCash International General Manager, and Surrey-based Filipino Community leader Mr. Neil Ryan Ferrer paid a courtesy call on Consul General Gina A Jamoralin. Also in attendance were Consul and Cultural Section Head André Peter Estanislao and Vice Consul and Economic Section Head Marco Harder.

During the courtesy call, Consul General Jamoralin expressed her congratulations on the successful initial public offering (IPO) of GCash’s parent company Mynt Inc. in the Philippine Stock Exchange, citing that its IPO speaks to GCash’s brand recognition due its large market share in the Philippine financial technology space.

Mr. Que remarked that GCash is looking to expand their user base in North America and is keen to get information about GCash out to overseas Filipinos, citing new and upcoming functionalities of the GCash app targeted at helping overseas Filipinos manage their financial transactions more conveniently.

Consul General Jamoralin mentioned the Consulate General’s upcoming Financial Literacy webinar on 07 November 2026 and extended an invitation for them to attend the webinar. She also cited that tourists joining the Winter Escapade 2027 and YouLEAD programs of the Consulate General may be interested in using GCash for their spending during their stay in the Philippines.

Consul General Jamoralin also encouraged GCash to reach out to Filipino Community Organizations that may also have activities that they can collaborate on. She gave Mr. Que and Mr. Abog copies of the second edition of the Directory of Filipino Community Organizations in BC, YT, and NWT Abog so that they can reach out to organizations who may be interested in working with them.

The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver engages Philippine businesses looking to expand their business in BC, YT, and NWT in line with its mandate to support Philippine economic development goals. As part of its economic diplomacy thrusts, the Consulate General actively seeks opportunities to connect businesses, investors, and other stakeholders in order to promote and grow trade between the Philippines and Canada.
