CALGARY, ALBERTA, 25 OCTOBER 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver actively participated in the 2026 Annual Consular and Economic Consultations (CEC) of Philippine Foreign Service Posts in Canada, held from 23 to 25 October 2026 in Calgary, Alberta.
The Vancouver delegation was led by Consul General Dr. Gina A. Jamoralin, together with Consul André Peter C. Estanislao and Vice Consul Marco Frederick B. Harder. Officials from Attached Agencies based in Vancouver, from MWO-Vancouver (Labor Officer Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama) and SSS (Foreign Representative Darwin Karl C. Soria) also formed part of the delegation.
Throughout the three-day consultations, the Vancouver delegation engaged in productive and meaningful discussions with Heads of Post and personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Consulates General in Calgary and Toronto. The delegation also met with attached agency representatives—including the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), Philippine Agriculture Office (PAO), Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT), Migrant Workers Offices (MWO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Social Security System (SSS)—as well as officials from the DFA Home Office in Manila and other government partner agencies. The delegation also had meaningful discussions with senior officials from Canadian Heritage. Beyond the formal sessions, the delegation also interacted with members of the local Filipino community in Canmore and rural Alberta.
The annual consultations served as a vital platform to review key developments in Philippines-Canada relations following its elevation to a Strategic Partnership in 2026 and the successful official visit of H.E. Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr, to Vancouver in July 2027. Delegations discussed Canada-wide economic engagement strategies, joint trade and tourism initiatives, cultural diplomacy frameworks, and policy updates on consular and labor operations to better serve Overseas Filipinos across Canada.
Consul General Jamoralin reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to working seamlessly within the "One-Team Philippines" framework in Canada to advance national economic priorities, drive trade and investment into B.C. and the Yukon, and deliver compassionate, efficient consular services to the diaspora.
