Philippines and Canada Forge Closer Academic Partnership with MOU Signing

21 June 2024 – Chairman Julian Prospero de Vera III of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education and BC Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills Lisa Beare inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Promotion of Educational Cooperation and Two-Way Exchange Opportunities at the Vancouver Cabinet Office in Canada Place, Vancouver, after both sides met on ways to work together under the MOU.  The meeting also enabled the ministers to update each other on developments in higher education and discuss their respective priorities, particularly on the internationalization of education.

The MOU, which intends to promote two-way educational exchanges on mutual priority areas, such as indigenous people education, maritime education, aviation, animation, sustainability, nursing, and innovation, was signed at the sidelines of the BC International Education Week in  Vancouver on 23-26 June 2024 where Minister Beare is expected to make some favorable policy pronouncements on international education at the opening session.

Chair De Vera is accompanied in this visit by Mabalacat City College President Michelle Aguilar-Ong and Embassy of Canada in the Philippines Trade Commissioner Angel Cachuela.  END
