Philippine Madrigal Singers Amaze Vancouver Crowd at Christ Church Cathedral Concert

12 April 2024 – The harmonious sounds of the Philippine Madrigal Singers filled the halls of Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver on 13 April 2024, captivating audiences and marking the start of their highly anticipated three-month Canada tour.

The multi-awarded Philippine Madrigal Singers, also known as the Madz, delivered an exceptional performance, showcasing their mastery of a diverse repertoire spanning centuries of music. From Renaissance melodies to contemporary Filipino compositions, the Madz impressed the audience with their impeccable harmonies and poignant interpretations.

The concert likewise featured local talents, including Himig Kabataan, Vancouver Youth Choir, Jimuel Dave Dagta, and Joseph Lagrimas Bisenio. Their performances added a dynamic dimension to the evening, highlighting the diversity of Vancouver's musical landscape.

In her remarks, Philippine Consul General Arlene T. Magno expressed gratitude to the Madrigal singers for allowing the Vancouver crowd to share in the experience of a Madz’ performance.

Led by chorale master, Mark Anthony Carpio, the Madz received several standing ovations and loud applause from the audience comprising the Filipino community, locals, and even visitors who flew to Vancouver to witness their performance. Their performance truly showcased the richness and diversity of Filipino culture.

Organized by the United Philippine Arts Association of British Columbia (UPAABC) and the United Filipino-Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC), the concert also served as a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Philippines-Canada diplomatic relations. END
