Vancouver, BC, 17 February 2026 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin graced the Valentine’s and Family Day event of the Benguet Society of British Columbia (BSBC) held at St. Mary the Virgin, Sapperton, New Westminster on 14 February 2026.

Likewise, Consul General Jamoralin administered the induction of the newly-elected officers of BSBC led by Ms. Phoebe Sabado.

Consul General Jamoralin underscored the significant role of the BSBC as a pillar of unity, not only for those who trace their roots to Benguet, but for the wider FIlipino community as well through its cultural activities, mutual support, and community engagement that helped preserve heritage while building bridges between generations, between cultures, and between the Philippines and Canada. Consul General Jamoralin also announced the call for Filipinos to register as a Philippine Overseas Voter for the 2028 Philippine National elections as well as in the PH Consulate in Vancouver’s Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP). Also, Consul General Jamoralin announced forthcoming flagship projects of the Consulate in 2026.

The BSBC is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Benguet people. Registered in 2016, BSBC aims to strengthen relationships and connections among its members and the Benguet community in British Columbia. The organization organizes events like the Adivay Festival, which brings together the 13 municipalities of Benguet Province and guests from outside BC. BSBC also extends assistance to less fortunate individuals and schools in Benguet Province, especially those impacted by the pandemic.

The Adivay Festival, held during the summer season, is a highlight of BSBC events, featuring displays from each of the 13 municipalities, cultural dances, and various donation drives for the community. The BSBC's theme for Adivay 2025 is "moving forward with hope and resilience," reflecting the community's resilience in the face of challenges.

The occasion was attended by the officers and members of the BSBC, sponsors, partners, and guests. END
