Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver Conducts Consular Outreach Mission in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver conducted its third consular outreach mission for the year in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NT) on 30 September-01 October 2023 at the Chateau Nova Hotel.  The team provided a total of 101 consular services, administered the oath of dual citizenship to 25 former Filipinos and registered 115 Filipinos as Overseas Voters for the 2025 Philippine national elections.

MWO-Vancouver and the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals section joined Post in Yellowknife to distribute welfare assistance to 100 Filipino victims of the recent wildfires in Yellowknife.

Consul General Magno (9th from right) led the outreach team, which included Acting Labor Attache Oliva Macawili (8R) and MWO-Vancouver Administrative Staff Neil Justin Nicolas (7R), Consular Assistant Christina Aquino (6R), Consular Assistant Arnel Anacion (5R), Collecting Officer Erlinda Yamat (4R), ATN Officer Ruel Peñaflorida (3R), Consular Assistant Millecent Verceles (2R), and Economic Assistant Edwin Batallones.

The Consulate Team was assisted during the outreach by the some of the officers and members of the Philippine Cultural Arts Society in Yellowknife, headed by its president Lea Barbosa Leclerc (2nd from left).

The Northwest Territories is one of two Canadian territories under Vancouver PCG’s jurisdiction, the other one being the Yukon.  According to Statistics Canada, there are close to 2,000 Filipinos living in the NT, which is about 2½ hours by direct flight from Vancouver.  END
