Earlier in the day, Consul General Jamoralin also met with select participants from the first batch who received a grade of 75% or higher during the final assessment. The first batch of the French Language Primer ran for four Saturdays from 30 August to 20 September 2025. She emphasized the importance of continuing the learning journey on their own to help them continue improving their proficiency in the French language. She also encouraged them to invest their effort and time in finding ways to continue learning the language so they can acquire an additional skill that can help them professionally.

The two classes are part of the French Language Primer that the Consulate launched in September this year as a response to suggestions from Filipinos who attended the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) in July.

According to the 2021 Canadian census, there are approximately 177,000 Filipinos in  the Philippine Consulate General’s areas of jurisdiction, namely British Columbia, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. This number includes international students studying in Canadian educational institutions, as well as temporary foreign workers employed in healthcare, agriculture, service industries, and other sectors.  END
