Consul Ratonel, in her remarks, highlighted the values evocative of Marianne’s art such as resilience, harmony with nature, and a profound respect for our roots. As the youngest artist to exhibit at the Consulate, she further added that Marianne strives to use her art to bridge the gap between generations and cultures, bringing her Filipino heritage into the art scene of Vancouver.
“Masaganang Buhay: A Bountiful Life” was inspired by the sprawling gardens of the artist’s family home in La Union reflecting stories of their family’s fond memories living in the countryside.
