VANCOUVER, BC. 04 September 2025 – The Philippine Consulate General and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Vancouver successfully launched the first session of its French Language Primer on 30 August 2025 at the Consulate premises.
Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed the participants and underscored the importance of learning French as a tool to broaden opportunities for Filipino temporary foreign workers and international students in Canada. Labor Attaché Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama also addressed the attendees, highlighting how learning French can help them adapt better to their workplaces and communities.
The French Language Primer is a free training program designed to provide Filipino migrant workers and students with basic knowledge of the French language. The course consists of four Saturday sessions (30 August, 06, 13, and 20 September 2025), amounting to a total of eight hours of instruction. A total of 15 participants are expected to complete the program.
By offering this initiative, the Consulate and the MWO aim to equip Filipino nationals with skills that not only enhance their career prospects but also help strengthen their integration into Canadian society, particularly in provinces where French is widely spoken. END
