Consul General Jamoralin and Philippine Senate Majority Leader Zubiri Discuss Diaspora Support and Indigenous Rights in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, 30 April 2026 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin met with Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel F. Zubiri on 28 April 2026 at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel for a wide-ranging discussion on Philippine national interests and the evolving needs of the Filipino diaspora in Western Canada and the Territories.

Senator Zubiri underscored his commitment to advocating for Filipinos across Canada, with a particular focus on those in remote areas. He expressed his intent to champion the necessary legislative and budgetary support to bolster consular services while ensuring that the contributions of the Filipino diaspora are given the formal historical recognition they deserve.

For her part, Consul General Jamoralin briefed the Senator on the Consulate's key initiatives, emphasizing the safeguarding of Philippine interests and the welfare of overseas Filipinos, alongside economic trade missions and cultural heritage projects.
