Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin Addresses the Philippine Canada Trade Council (PCTC) and Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) 2025 – Philippines Business Connections Reception

Vancouver, BC, 30 May 2025 – Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin, at the joint invitation of Philippine Canada Trade Council (PCTC) and Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT), attended and delivered a special remarks for the Philippines Business Connections Reception which was held at Hilton Hotel, Metrotown, Burnaby on 29 May 2025.

In her remarks, Consul General Jamoralin emphasized the vast opportunities for trade and investment collaboration between the Philippines and Canada. She highlighted key initiatives, including ongoing efforts toward a Canada–ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and exploratory talks on a bilateral Philippines–Canada FTA. The Consul General also outlined the priority sectors for Canadian investment in the Philippines such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing, underscoring the country's investor-friendly policies, including the CREATE Law, Retail Trade Liberalization Act, Foreign Investments Act, and Public Services Act.

The Consul General further promoted trade engagement platforms like the International Food, Beverage, and Ingredients Trade Show (IFEX) Philippines and Manila FAME 2025 (Fashion, Art, Manufacturing, and Export), as key venues for strengthening commercial ties. Additionally, she encouraged the promotion of Philippine export products to Canada, particularly high-value agricultural and lifestyle goods.

The Philippines Business Connections Reception is part of the Burnaby Board of Trade’s (BBOT) Pacific Gateway event series, which focuses on timely issues affecting trade relations and business opportunities, while fostering meaningful connections across a diverse range of industries.

The event brought together members of the Filipino-Canadian community representing various sectors, including government and public service, international relations, education and training, real estate and property, legal and financial services, engineering, technology and consultancy, manufacturing and industry, logistics and transportation, hospitality and hotels, retail and food services, cleaning and maintenance, and non-profit organizations. The event also provided participants with valuable opportunities for networking and professional engagement. END
