CONSUL GENERAL AUSTRIA RECEIVES SEAFARERS’ BOOK BY CONG. JESS MANALO TO MARK INTERNATIONAL SEAFARERS DAY

Austria receives a copy of the book entitled, "Filipino Seafarers Moving the World", by ANGKLA Representative Jesulito "Jess" Manalo, from Vancouver-based brother-in-law Wilbur Victoria, to mark International Seafarers Day.  The book provides an overview of the Philippine maritime industry and includes stories of Filipino seafarers.  Also in photo is DCG Arlene Magno. (right photo)  Congen Austria, Mr. Wilbur Victoria, and Mrs. Evelyn Manalo Victoria, talk about the plight of Filipino seamen and how the Philippine government could further assist them, as well as a host of other topics ranging from donating old Philippine newspapers to the local libraries, and educating the educators about the psyche of their Filipino students, to organizing a voters education campaign by the Filipino community.

(Above) Assistant Labor Attache and OIC Olive Macawili donates a copy of the Seafarers book to Reverend Peter Smyth, Senior Port Chaplain of the Mission to Seafarers (MtS) Vancouver as Post's token of appreciation for all the assistance that the MtS has extended to Filipino seafarers, particularly at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Mission is a non-governmental organization, with offices and partners in other countries, that provides spiritual, physical and emotional support to seafarers on ships.
