CONSUL GENERAL KWANGSUK LEE CALLS ON CONSUL GENERAL GINA JAMORALIN; REAFFIRMS STRONG PHL-KOR TIES AND DISCUSSES AREAS OF COLLABORATION

28 SEPTEMBER 2026, VANCOUVER, BC. Last 25 September 2026, Consul General Kwangsuk Lee of the Republic of Korea called on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin at PCG Vancouver.

During the courtesy call, the two Consuls General reaffirmed the strong PHL-ROK relations that has lasted for decades, citing the assistance provided by the Philippines toSouth Korea during the Korean War as the crucible that forged the two countries’ unbreakable bond.

Consuls General Jamoralin and Lee also discussed existing and potential areas of collaboration such as defense, maritime industry, critical minerals, and energy. Both agreed that such partnerships bode well for the future of ROK- PHL relations.

The Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Korea established formal diplomatic relations on 03 March 1949. The Philippines was the fifth country in the world and the first in southeast Asia to recognize the Republic of Korea’s statehood.
