Philippine Flag Raised for the First Time in Burnaby, British Columbia

On 11 June 2023, the Philippine flag was raised for the very first time in Burnaby to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Filipino Heritage Month in Canada.

Consul General Arlene T. Magno was joined by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly MLA Raj Chouhan, MLA Mable Elmore, MLA Janet Routledge,

Councillor Maita Santiago, Councillor James Wang (Acting Mayor), Consulate’s officers and staff, and members of the Filipino Community at the flag raising ceremony.

In her keynote address, Consul General Magno urges the Filipino community to continue promoting the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines, and working towards building a stronger and more united community. 

The event, organized by the Filipinos’ Advocacies Support Team and Volunteers, also featured cultural performances and Filipino cuisine. END
