06 SEPTEMBER 2025 SURREY, BC. The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver represented by Deputy Consul General Paul Vincent L. Uy and Vice Consul Marco B. Harder attended the Himig ng Kasaysayan Year-End Concert of the Himig Kabataan Cultural Society (HKCS) held on 6 September 2025 at the Surrey Arts Centre.

HKCS was founded in 2022 by eight second- and third- generation Filipino-Canadian youth who developed a passion for Philippine culture as they were growing up. HKCS’s chorale has now grown to 27 members, and has expanded to include a band and dance troupe as part of its collective.

The concert showcased the beauty and richness of Filipino heritage through choral music and cultural expression.  The performers brought history to life through vocal numbers performed by HKCS’ flagship chorale, instrumentals by HKCS’ band (Tugtog) and dance performances by the collective’s dance troupe (Indak).

This group of young performers are scheduled to participate in the World Peace Choral Festival to be held in Vienna, Austria in July 2026. END.
