29 July 2025 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver conducted its fifth Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) / consular outreach mission for the year from 16 to 17 July 2025 in Penticton, British Columbia. The outreach mission was held in cooperation with the Fil-Can Cultural Society of South Okanagan.
Over the course of the two-day event, the PCG Vancouver team provided consular services which included passport applications, notarial services and civil registration. Consul Analyn D. Ratonel also officiated the oath-taking ceremony for eight individuals who reacquired their Philippine citizenship under Republic Act 9225.
The Consulate also utilized this engagement to encourage registration in the Vancouver Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP). Launched on 01 January 2025, VERMAP is designed to collect information on Filipinos— including dual citizens—residing within the Consulate’s jurisdiction. This registry enables the Consulate to efficiently identify and contact community members in affected areas during emergencies and crisis situations.
Situated between the Okanagan Lake to the north and Skaha Lake to the south, Penticton is a city located in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. As of the latest demographic data, approximately 520 Filipino residents call Penticton home, comprising 1.4% of the total population. END
