“PAGTITIPON” ART EXHIBIT GATHERS FILIPINO CANADIAN ARTISTS

17 August 2022 – A Vancouver exhibit brought together Filipino-Canadian artists in a six-day show called “Pagtitipon” (translated as "a gathering" in English) held at the Roundhouse Community Centre, Vancouver, BC from 9 to 14 August 2022.

The curated exhibition, organized by the Filipino Music and Art Foundation in BC (FMAFBC), co-presented by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver and supported by the Global Filipino Diaspora Canada, featured various artistic styles of ten esteemed artists, namely, Danvic Briones, Paulina Constancia, Tessie Dichupa, Charlie Frenal, Kiana Hipolito, Edgardo S. Lantin, Lenore RS Lim, Chito Maravilla, Esmie Gayo McLaren, and Broderick Wong. Pagtitipon 2022 reflected on the challenges of interruption, alienation, and hope during the pandemic.

Consul General Maria Andrelita Austria, in her remarks, conveyed her appreciation to the FMAFBC for mounting an event that highlighted the innate talent and creativity of the Filipino people. She also said that even with the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the spirit and the heart of the Filipino community shine even brighter through our work

in different sectors such as the health care, retail, services, entertainment and the arts.

The opening reception was attended by over 150 guests, including esteemed members of the consular corps, government officials, movers in the BC art group, business community, members of the academe, members of the Filipino community in BC, and the media. END
