19 June 2021 - A new set of officers for the PICPA Vancouver Chapter took their oath before Consul General Maria Andrelita S. Austria in virtual induction ceremonies held today. In her message, Congen Austria commended PICPA for their efforts in helping their fellow accountants work in Canada and told them that she looked forward to collaborating with them in pushing programs that will benefit the Filipino community (left photo).

Marissa Velarde (top leftmost), founding president of PICPA Vancouver, was elected president for the term 2021-23. In her closing remarks, she shared her three plans for the organization under her term, viz.: (1) revive the mentorship program for CPAs to become members of PICPA; (2) revive the pre-departure orientation seminars and let CPAs know about the existence of PICPA Vancouver; and (3) propose to the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia the possible affiliation of PICPA Vancouver Chapter in order that CPAs coming from Manila could be exempted from taking additional courses/subjects in Canada.
Congen Austria also took the opportunity to invite the PICPA membership to register as Overseas Voters, if they have not already done so, and participate in the presidential elections in May 2022.END
