27 June 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver conducted its first consular outreach in Golden, British Columbia last June 21-22, 2016 at the Ramada Limited Golden Hotel. Golden is located on the southeastern part of British Columbia along the Rocky Mountain Trench surrounded by two rivers and three mountain ranges. The city is a favorite stop for tourists due to its unique location and close proximity to five National Parks.

Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer led the outreach team in processing a total of 534 passport applications and providing notarial, NBI and civil registry services. A number of Filipinos who were working as Temporary Foreign Workers in the city served as volunteers during the outreach.

Mayor Ron Oszust of the City of Golden had the opportunity to meet and talk with applicants when he visited the venue of the outreach. In his meeting with Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer, the Mayor recognized the important contribution of the Fiipino community in Golden. He appreciated the service being provided by the Philippine Consulate and mentioned that he renders volunteer services as unit head of BC Ambulance aside from being mayor of the city.

Before returning to Vancouver, the members of the Consulate outreach team had a chance meeting with various Ministers of the British Columbia government at the Cranbrook Airport while the BC officials were returning from their annual cabinet retreat from the city. – END
